I'm trying to figure out how to prevent our CEO from receiving alerts generated by Defender or Purview. Recently, I've been testing some auto-labeling settings and noticed that simulation emails are going out to four people, including the CEO. I'm unsure why he's receiving them, as his current role is just Application Administrator, and he doesn't have any elevated access. I think he was involved in setting up our tenant when we first moved to the cloud, but I need to manage who receives these alerts now. Can anyone guide me on how to stop him from getting these notifications? Thanks!

The reason your CEO is still getting those alerts is that his account was probably set as a technical contact when the tenant was created. You can change this by setting up a distribution list (DL) and removing his account from the alerts. This way, you won’t need to deal with individual users anymore.
How can I remove him as a technical contact or replace all the current recipients with a DL? I can set up the DL, but I'm not sure how to update the existing contact list for the alerts. Thanks!
