This morning, I opened my laptop and noticed that the battery icon has vanished from the taskbar. I rebooted the device hoping it would solve the problem, but that didn't work. When I powered it on, I saw a battery icon with an X in the corner of the screen. I've also tried disabling and re-enabling the battery drivers in Device Manager, but that didn't help either. I'm worried because I tried charging my laptop, and the charging light isn't blinking anymore, so I'm not sure if it's getting charged at all.

If your laptop is over 2 to 5 years old, it might need a new battery. The X usually indicates a charging issue or that it’s missing altogether.
It sounds like your battery might have died. That X typically means the battery can't charge or is not recognized by the system.

The laptop is around 3 years old, but I replaced the battery just last year. Can it still work while charging even if the light isn’t on?
