I'm considering upgrading my RTX 4060 Ti to an RTX 5070 listed at $629.99. My system has a Ryzen 7 7700X, PRO B650-P WIFI motherboard, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, a Lian Li 360mm AIO, four additional fans, and a PowerSpec 650W 80+ Bronze semi-modular PSU inside a HYTE Y40 case. Would the RTX 5070 fit properly and would 650W be enough? I'm mainly thinking about games such as Space Marine 2, Battlefield 6, and the upcoming Gears E-Day. My case seems to run fairly loud under load, so I'm also wondering whether the newer card would run cooler or more quietly. I currently use a 1080p 75Hz monitor, although I may upgrade the monitor within the next year. Is $629.99 a reasonable price, or would the upgrade be overkill for my current setup?

A new GPU may not make the whole system quieter. The card could have better performance per watt, but fans can still ramp up depending on its cooler and your fan curve. First find out whether the noise is coming from the GPU, radiator, case fans, or pump. Limiting the frame rate to 75 FPS, enabling a quieter fan curve, undervolting, and improving airflow may solve the noise without replacing the card.
The 650W recommendation is generally within the RTX 5070’s requirements, but the exact card model and the quality and age of that PowerSpec unit matter. Check the specific GPU’s power recommendation, connector requirements, and physical dimensions. The HYTE Y40 supports large cards, but some thick models can be awkward with its vertical GPU layout, so verify clearance rather than assuming every 5070 will fit.
For your current monitor, the RTX 5070 is more of a future-proofing purchase than a necessary upgrade. If you plan to buy a high-refresh 1440p monitor within a year, $629.99 can be reasonable if the specific model has a good cooler and the price is competitive. Otherwise, keeping the 4060 Ti and adjusting settings or upgrading the monitor first would likely give you more noticeable value.
The RTX 5070 is roughly a 50% performance increase over the RTX 4060 Ti, so it is a meaningful upgrade. However, at 1080p and 75Hz, you probably won’t see much benefit unless you want higher settings, better frame-time consistency, or are planning to move to a faster 1440p display soon.
