I'm building my first gaming PC with a budget of roughly $800–$900. I found a bundle with a Ryzen 5 7500X3D, an ASRock B850M-C AM5 motherboard, and 16GB of DDR5 memory. For the graphics card, I'm choosing between a used RTX 3080 10GB and a used RX 9060 XT. Are there any bottlenecks or compatibility issues I should worry about, and would either card be a good choice for comfortable 1440p gaming?

The choice mostly depends on whether the 9060 XT has 8GB or 16GB of VRAM. If it’s the 8GB version, the RTX 3080 is generally the better pick. If it’s the 16GB model, that extra VRAM makes it more appealing for newer 1440p games and gives it better longevity.
The RTX 3080 still handles 1440p well, especially if you’re willing to lower a few demanding settings and avoid ray tracing. Its main weakness is the 10GB of VRAM, which can become limiting in newer AAA games with high-resolution textures. A used card from that generation may also have little or no warranty, so check its condition, temperatures, and return policy carefully.
That’s a reasonable choice, but compare benchmarks for the specific games you play. The 3080 has stronger raw performance in some situations, while the 16GB card should be less likely to run into VRAM limits.
The processor and platform should be a strong match for either graphics card, so there shouldn’t be a major CPU bottleneck at 1440p. The 16GB of RAM is usable, but upgrading to 32GB would be worthwhile for modern games and general multitasking if your budget allows it. For the GPU, prioritize real game performance, VRAM, condition, and price over the claim that one option is automatically more future-proof.
So the used 16GB 9060 XT would probably be the safer long-term choice if the price is good? I’m mainly looking for stable 60 FPS or better rather than maxing out every setting.
