I'm a first-year middle school PE teacher, but I've also been assigned one period of coding. The class uses CodeHS, and I currently know very little about programming. I'm busy preparing my PE and health lessons, so I haven't had much time to explore the coding curriculum yet. For anyone who has taught with CodeHS, what should I learn first? Are there useful strategies, resources, or common pitfalls I should know about before the class begins?

First find out exactly what your school expects students to complete. Ask administrators or teachers who have used the course before for the syllabus, pacing guide, lesson plans, target language, and any required projects. CodeHS supports several different courses and programming languages, so knowing the specific curriculum will make it much easier to prepare.

Check whether the school or CodeHS offers teacher training, onboarding materials, or support resources.
