Looking for a Laptop for College and Gaming: Any Recommendations?

Hey everyone! I'm totally new to the world of computers and laptops. I need to get a new one for college next year, and I really want to make sure I can also play some games smoothly, especially modded Minecraft and The Sims.

Right now, I have a cheap HP laptop from Walmart that cost about $200, but it's super slow and can't handle much. Since my workloads will be increasing, I'm hoping to upgrade and find something with a decent balance between performance and budget. Is it possible to find a laptop or computer that can handle both schoolwork and some casual gaming without breaking the bank? I'd love to hear your recommendations and any personal favorites you might have. Thanks a bunch!

I recommend checking out the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15. It's not super expensive and is a solid choice for both college work and casual gaming!

Not a pro, but I’ve done a little research on PCs over the past few months! Here are some specs you should look for:
- CPU: At least an Intel Core i5 (3 generations old should be fine)
- Storage: At least 256GB SSD
- RAM: Go for at least 8GB, but 16GB is better if you can swing it
- GPU: Integrated graphics will work for your needs.

These should help you run modern software smoothly! Hope this helps!

Have you thought about your budget specifically? It could help narrow down options!

Honestly, I’m not sure yet, but I can go a couple hundred more than my last laptop, so maybe in the $300-$500 range? Just trying to find something my family thinks is worth the investment.
