What’s the best way to learn Azure deeply, especially networking, in 2026?

I'm coming from an AWS background and want to build a thorough understanding of Microsoft Azure, with a particular focus on networking. There are many online courses available, but several appear outdated or only receive minor updates. Are there any current courses or learning paths you would recommend for developing a strong foundation and understanding the latest Azure features?

Microsoft Learn is probably the safest starting point. It’s free, maintained by Microsoft, and has structured learning paths for Azure fundamentals, networking, and role-based certifications. Since you already know AWS, focus on mapping familiar concepts to Azure services and then fill in the platform-specific details as you go.

I also prefer Microsoft Learn because the documentation is cross-referenced well. It makes it easier to investigate a topic further whenever you notice a gap in your understanding.

Paid courses can still be useful, but quality and freshness vary a lot. Highly rated ones usually explain the core concepts well, even if some screenshots or portal steps are out of date. I’d use a course for structure and supplement it with current Microsoft documentation and recent technical videos.

That’s been my experience too. Some instructors cover the fundamentals very well, but I usually check newer material for changes to the portal, services, and recommended architecture.

For Azure networking and architecture, John Savill’s technical videos are an excellent supplement. His sessions tend to go deeper than many introductory courses and are useful for understanding how the services fit together rather than just memorizing setup steps.

John Christopher’s courses are another reasonable option if you prefer a traditional, organized course format. I’d pair them with John Savill’s videos and Microsoft Learn, since no single course seems to cover every Azure networking topic in enough depth.
