Laptop Suddenly Goes to Sleep While Opening or Using It

My laptop intermittently blackscreens and appears to enter sleep mode when I open it or start playing something. The power light flickers briefly before the screen turns off. It does not physically close its lid—the issue is that it goes into sleep mode. I recorded a video, but the behavior may not be obvious in it. The battery still works, and disconnecting the battery did not resolve the problem; the laptop can continue running on battery power.

A sudden blackscreen followed by a flickering power light usually points to a hardware or power-management problem rather than the lid physically closing. Possible causes include a faulty lid sensor, power button, charger or charging circuit, loose display cable, or a motherboard issue. Since disconnecting the battery did not change anything, heat and battery failure are less likely, though the charger and DC-in circuitry are still worth checking. Try adjusting the lid angle, testing with an external monitor, and checking whether Windows is logging unexpected sleep or power events. If it happens when the laptop is moved or the screen hinge is adjusted, a loose cable or lid sensor becomes especially likely.

It is definitely going into sleep mode rather than physically closing, and the problem continues even with the battery disconnected. It can still run normally on battery power, so I’m trying to narrow it down to the display, lid sensor, or another hardware issue.
