I'm building a system with a Ryzen 5500X3D and an RTX 5070, and I'm considering filling all four motherboard DIMM slots with four 8GB DDR4 modules. The sticks would be from the same manufacturer and rated for the same speed. Is running all four slots likely to cause stability problems, reduced memory speed, or looser timings compared with using two sticks?

Four DDR4 sticks will often work fine, especially around 3200–3600 MT/s, but it puts more strain on the CPU’s memory controller than two sticks. If the rated speed is above 3600, you may need to lower it or relax the timings. Check the motherboard’s memory QVL for the best chance of compatibility.
