Standoff Screws for My Motherboard – How Many Do I Need?

Hey everyone! I just got a new Asus TUF B650 Plus motherboard and I'm trying to install it into my Be Quiet Silent Base 800 case. I'm a bit confused about the standoffs, though. I read that I need a standoff for each screw hole, but my case only came with three standoffs: one already installed in the center and two that I have to screw in separately. There are also eight screws included for securing the motherboard. However, my motherboard has nine holes for screws. Are those three standoffs going to be enough to keep the motherboard secure, or should I look into getting more? Thanks for your help!

Some cases do come with these special studs that act as standoffs, which might explain why you have only a few. Just make sure to put standoffs in the correct spots, especially near the GPU slot and top of the board. You might be able to find standoffs online or at a PC shop if you need extras.

You'll definitely want to have enough standoffs to properly support the motherboard. Three might hold it, but I’d recommend getting at least five total to be safe. It’s important for stability and to avoid any potential damage.

I found standoffs that worked at a local shop. There’s also a YouTube video where someone with the same case uses standoffs in all the holes. It's odd that they weren’t included, but definitely get more if you can!

I’ve noticed from online resources that Be Quiet cases often have built-in plastic standoffs. Have you checked if yours has those? They should help support the board without standard metal standoffs in those locations.

From what I can see in the specs, it seems like a few mounting holes don't need standoffs if they’re elevated above the tray. If possible, posting a picture could help figure it out better!

Here’s a link to some pictures: https://imgur.com/gallery/MdVyR4g. The case has some raised metal parts, not plastic. Thanks for the help!

Double-check your case accessories; usually, if you have eight screws for the motherboard, there should be enough standoffs too. For a secure fit, four is definitely the bare minimum, so I’d look for more standoffs if you can.

I have the Silent Base 800, which is a bit older, so maybe that explains it. The manual backs you up about only having two standoffs. Appreciate the advice!
