I'm planning to build a PC with a budget of around $2,000. My current draft includes a Ryzen 7 7800X, an MSI B850 motherboard, and an RTX 4060, but I'm not sure whether those parts make sense together or what I should choose for the rest of the system. The PC will mainly be used for gaming, with some occasional schoolwork. I'd appreciate recommendations for a complete, well-balanced build and advice on whether I should change the CPU, motherboard, or graphics card. Prices may depend on location, so I'm assuming a U.S. budget unless otherwise noted.

Before anyone can recommend exact parts, post the complete parts list and confirm your country, since prices and availability vary. Also double-check the processor and motherboard model names—make sure the CPU is the exact Ryzen model you intend to buy and that the board supports it. For gaming and schoolwork, you don’t need an extreme CPU; a balanced processor with a significantly faster graphics card would usually be the better use of this budget.
A $2,000 gaming build should have a much stronger graphics card than an RTX 4060. That card is more appropriate for a lower-budget system, and pairing it with a high-end Ryzen 7 leaves a lot of performance on the table. Put more of the budget toward the GPU, then choose a suitable CPU, 32GB of memory, a 1–2TB NVMe SSD, a quality power supply, and a case with good airflow.
The graphics card isn’t fixed yet. I’m mainly using the computer for gaming and occasional schoolwork, so I’m open to changing the build around.
