How can I stop my Sony HT-CT290 from turning off after five minutes over Bluetooth?

I connected a Sony HT-CT290 home-theater system to my PC using Bluetooth. Whenever there is no audio for about five minutes, the speakers turn themselves off, so I have to use the remote to power them back on. I already disabled Bluetooth-related power-saving options in Windows and turned off Auto Standby using the remote, but the behavior has not changed. I also tried playing a very quiet continuous sound with a utility designed to keep audio active, without success. The system is connected only to the PC and has never been connected to a television. Is there another setting or workaround that can prevent it from shutting down?

Double-check the HT-CT290 manual for every sleep-related option, including Auto Standby, APD, and any Bluetooth standby setting. If Auto Standby is already disabled and the unit still powers off after exactly five minutes, the Bluetooth connection may be triggering the soundbar's own inactivity timeout rather than a Windows power-saving setting.

Some receivers shut down when they stop detecting an active audio signal, but a silent-tone utility does not always keep Bluetooth audio active because Windows or the Bluetooth driver can still suspend the stream. If disabling Auto Standby has no effect, there may not be a Windows setting that can override the speaker's internal timer; using a wired connection may be the most reliable workaround.

Since the system is Bluetooth-only, the usual HDMI, optical, TV, ARC, or CEC interference explanations do not apply here. Try testing it with a constant audio stream and also test another input, such as AUX or optical, if available. If it stays on through another input, the five-minute shutdown is likely a limitation or firmware behavior of the soundbar's Bluetooth mode.
