My 2TB Kingston KC3000 has died, and replacing it now would cost around €650, compared with the roughly €130 I originally paid. Since I need a new main drive anyway, I'm considering getting a 4TB SSD instead of another 2TB model. The drive will be used for the operating system and games in a PCIe 4.0 motherboard. I have several 4TB options shortlisted and would appreciate advice on which one offers the best combination of reliability, performance, and value. Are there any models I should avoid because of QLC NAND or inconsistent hardware revisions?

The NM790 looks like the strongest choice from that list. I’d be cautious with the NQ790, SN5000, NV3, VP4300 Lite, and P3 Plus because some versions use QLC NAND, which generally has lower endurance and sustained-write performance than TLC. For a primary system and gaming drive, a known TLC-based model is the safer pick.
The NQ790 appears to be listed with TLC in some databases, but the 4TB version isn’t always documented clearly. The VP4300 has also been sold with several different hardware combinations, so the exact revision matters.
The VP4300 Lite may also use QLC in its 4TB version, so its specifications should be checked carefully rather than assuming every capacity uses the same NAND.
