I'm planning a PC with a Ryzen 7 5800X and an RX 9060 XT with 16GB of VRAM. Would this be enough to run Minecraft above 500 FPS? I'm also wondering how much resolution, render distance, shaders, optimization mods, and monitor refresh rate would affect the result.

You can probably reach 500 FPS in vanilla Minecraft, especially at lower settings and render distances. Minecraft’s performance varies a lot depending on resolution, simulation distance, world complexity, and whether you’re using shaders. A high-refresh monitor is needed to actually see the benefit, though.
For normal Minecraft without shaders, that hardware should run the game very smoothly at a reasonable render distance, and 500 FPS may be possible in lighter scenes. With shaders at 1440p, expect much lower results—roughly around 150 FPS depending on the shader pack and settings. If you want consistently extreme frame rates, a newer X3D processor would likely perform better, since Minecraft is often CPU-limited.
The 5800X should be capable, but Minecraft’s standard client and server software do not always use CPU threads efficiently. Performance mods such as Sodium or a similar optimization setup can make a much bigger difference than the graphics card alone. Server software and configuration also matter if you’re hosting a world.
Render distance and simulation distance are especially important. Lowering those settings can make 500 FPS much more realistic than simply upgrading the GPU.
