Can I extend my broadband to the ground floor with a Wi‑Fi 6 mesh?

My Airtel broadband router is on the first floor and the Wi‑Fi signal is almost unusable on the ground floor. I'm considering buying a Wi‑Fi 6 mesh unit and connecting it to the router with an Ethernet cable, then placing it downstairs. Would using just one additional mesh unit work, or would I need a two-node system while keeping the existing router only as the internet gateway? Also, what advantages does solid copper Ethernet cable have over copper-clad aluminium (CCA), and would a wired or mesh connection provide enough speed for comfortable 4K video streaming on a ground-floor TV? I currently get around 250 Mbps near the router.

A 250 Mbps broadband connection is more than enough for 4K streaming; many services use roughly 15–25 Mbps, though extra capacity helps avoid buffering when other devices are active. The important factor is the downstairs connection quality. A wired Ethernet backhaul to the mesh unit will usually be much more reliable than having the mesh node communicate wirelessly through floors and walls. Placement still matters, so test the TV’s actual speed and stability after installation.

Solid copper Ethernet is generally the better choice than CCA. CCA cable may work for short, low-power connections, but it’s less durable and may not meet the expected performance of the cable category, so look for cable labeled solid bare copper.
