I'm deciding between getting 2TB or 4TB of storage for my PC. I tend to download lots of mods and custom content for The Sims and other games, and I prefer keeping games installed instead of deleting them and downloading them again later. I'm in the United States, and cost matters, but I'm mainly trying to figure out which capacity would suit this usage better.

Think of it like buying fuel: the right amount depends on how much you use and what you can afford. Since you already know you dislike deleting games and expect to keep lots of mods installed, 4TB is probably the less frustrating choice. If the price difference is too high, 2TB is still perfectly usable—you’ll just need to manage the library more often.
There isn’t one universally best size—it depends on how much you want to spend and how much inconvenience you’re willing to tolerate. 2TB will work for most gaming setups, but large games and mod collections can fill it sooner than expected. If 4TB fits comfortably in your budget, it sounds like the better match for your habits.
You could combine storage types instead of putting everything on one expensive SSD. Use a fast SSD for your operating system and frequently played games, then add a larger regular hard drive for older games, screenshots, videos, and other files. Older games generally don’t need the fastest possible storage.
If you can afford the 4TB model without putting yourself in a difficult financial position, there’s little downside to choosing it. You won’t need to uninstall games as often, and the extra space gives your mod and custom-content collection room to grow. A previous-generation SSD can also be a good value since the newest speed ratings usually don’t make a major difference in game loading.
