My Computer is Acting Strange, What Could Be Wrong?

Lately, my computer has been bizarrely unresponsive. I can see everything happening on my screen while my mouse fails to click on anything. The weird issues don't just happen in games but affect my whole PC. Sometimes, the mouse scrolls by itself, pages delete unexpectedly, and when I try to exit a website, it opens multiple tabs instead. I've noticed that when I hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete and open the Task Manager, it temporarily resolves the issue, but it always comes back.

I've run a RAM test that took about an hour with no problems detected, and the temperatures seem normal. I'm genuinely worried it might be a motherboard issue since it was quite pricey. The CPU and RAM usage are not too high either. I've already tried replacing my mouse, disconnecting all USB devices, running a virus scan that found and fixed some corrupted files, and checking for malware with various tools, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like you might have a virus. Have you tried running a couple of different antivirus programs just to be sure? Sometimes one might miss what another catches. Let me know if you have already done that, though!

I reset my whole PC and ran scans on multiple apps, but the problem persists. Do you still think it’s a virus?

This is a tricky situation! To figure out if it's a hardware issue or software, you could download and run a Linux Live OS. If everything runs smoothly, it might hint towards a software problem. Also, is there any specific time when your system seems fine, like late at night or midday?

I did have an incident where my table fell a few weeks back, which could’ve caused some damage. However, the weird stuff only started happening about one or two days ago. There’s no real break from the issues for longer than 30 minutes.

It’s possible someone installed a remote KVM on your PC, which could control your mouse and keyboard inputs. As a test, try disconnecting your PC from the internet and see if the problems persist. That could help identify if external access is to blame.

When I disconnected it, the mouse just stopped acting weird but didn’t disappear completely.
