Why Am I Getting Frequent Blue Screens When Idle but Not While Gaming?

I've been experiencing constant blue screens, but interestingly, they mostly occur when my PC is idle and never when I'm gaming. Basic applications like Discord and Chrome crash frequently, and Facebook seems to be the worst offender. I've noted various blue screen error messages, including 'ntfs.sys', 'win32kbase', 'WDF violation', 'cl.dll', and 'kernel security check failure'.

My PC specs are pretty high-end—I've got an RTX 4090, Intel Core i9 14900KF, and 32GB of RAM on an ROG STRIX Z790-F GAMING WIFI motherboard. I've already tried updating my GPU drivers, all drivers from the motherboard site, and even updating the BIOS. I recently replaced my CPU because of these issues, and while that initially seemed to help, now I'm back to dealing with even worse problems. Can anyone help?

First off, it sounds like you've done a bunch of troubleshooting already! One key thing to do now is collect dump files from your blue screens for a better analysis. These files give insights into what's causing the crashes. You can find them in `C:WindowsMinidump`. If there are any dump files there, zip the folder and upload it to a file sharing site like catbox.moe or mediafire, and share the link here. Also, make sure your system is set to create small memory dumps to gather more data if you haven't done that already.

Have you thought about reinstalling Windows? It might sound like a hassle, but if it's a software-related issue, a clean install can sometimes do wonders. And you don’t necessarily have to format your drive; there are methods to reinstall Windows without losing your files. Just ensure you have a backup before proceeding, just in case!
