I built my PC back in 2018 or 2019, and I'm trying to decide if now is the right time to upgrade or if I should just stick with it a bit longer. My specs are as follows:
- CPU: Intel i7-9700K
- RAM: 32GB DDR4 @ 3000MHz (with two different pairs of RAM sticks)
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti
- Storage: 2TB SK Hynix Platinum P41
- PSU: Corsair RM1000x
- Monitor: 1440p 144Hz LG 27GN850-B
I mainly use it for gaming and some VR. Although it holds up well for many games, I'm starting to notice some performance drops with newer titles. I'm curious if I might be missing out with the latest hardware advancements.

If your current setup still plays the games you enjoy without major issues, you might not need to upgrade yet. But if you're hitting limits with new games, it could be worth looking into. A slight upgrade now could be better than a huge investment later.
Honestly, your 2080 Ti is still a solid card, but if you're eager to play new titles at higher settings, you might want to consider upgrading your GPU. Prices are high right now, but there's hope they might drop. You could also upgrade just your GPU for a couple more years of decent performance.
It really depends on your budget and what kind of upgrade you're looking for. I had a similar situation, and I decided to upgrade my GPU to an AMD Radeon 9070 XT and a Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Prices are a bit inflated nowadays, so it can be tricky. If you can afford it and feel the need, go for it! But don't rush your decision just because of hype.
I've been using my rig built back in 2016, and it's still running! I’d suggest keeping your setup unless you're unhappy with performance. If everything runs well, consider holding off for another year before building a new one from scratch.
There's been a lot of hardware advancement in recent years. If you're looking for a significant performance boost, it's probably time to invest. But it also depends on the games you play and how much you're willing to spend. If you can handle some settings adjustments for better gameplay, maybe hold off on a full upgrade for now.
I'm flexible on the budget. Just trying to figure out the potential gains from investing in upgrades.
How are the AMD GPUs? I've never really looked at them too closely.
