I have used the Flatpak version for years without problems. Flatpak can also be useful because tools such as Flatseal let you review and restrict the files and devices Kdenlive can access. Some optional features, such as AI-assisted subtitles, require you to deliberately install and configure an additional backend; they are not automatically active in the basic installation.
There is no specific safety issue indicated here. Kdenlive is a well-established open-source video editor developed by the KDE project and packaged for many major Linux distributions. If there is a particular warning, report, or behavior causing concern, sharing that detail would make it possible to address the concern directly rather than guessing about a vague feeling.
