I'm planning a gaming PC with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, and I'd like to reduce the total cost without sacrificing performance. I'm currently committed to keeping the CPU and GPU, although I'm open to hearing whether that restriction makes sense. I also want to confirm that the cooler, motherboard, memory, graphics card, power supply, and case are all compatible and have enough physical clearance. The current parts list comes to about $2,652. Are there sensible alternatives for the motherboard, RAM, SSD, case, or PSU?

The listed components should be compatible, but verify the exact case limits for graphics-card length, CPU-cooler height, and radiator or front-fan placement before ordering. The Phantom Spirit is a large air cooler, so check that its height fits the case and that it doesn’t interfere with the memory slots. The RTX 5070 Ti model is relatively compact, which helps with clearance. You can also save money with a B650E or B850 motherboard, a 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 kit, a better-endurance PCIe 4.0 SSD, and a less expensive mesh-front case. An 850W quality PSU is adequate for this CPU and GPU combination; 1050W is optional rather than required.
The case and power supply are two of the easiest places to save money. A good 850W Gold unit should be enough for this system, so you don’t necessarily need to spend $140 on the Corsair model. The Montech Century II 850W is one cheaper option. You could also look for a less expensive airflow-focused case instead of the premium Corsair model. For the motherboard, consider a B650E, B840, or B850 board unless you specifically need the extra PCIe lanes and USB connectivity. DDR5-6000 CL30 memory is preferable to the current CL36 kit, and a faster PCIe 4.0 SSD would be a better choice than the Kingston NV3 if the price difference is small.
There’s a lot of room to cut the price without changing the CPU or GPU. The motherboard is more expensive than necessary for a 7800X3D, and a quality B850 board should provide everything most gaming builds need. The RAM price also looks unusually high; a 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 kit should cost much less. A cheaper case with good front ventilation and an 850W PCIe 5-compatible power supply can reduce the total substantially. Depending on current prices, switching to another RTX 5070 Ti model could save about $100 as well, although that depends on why you selected this particular card.
