I recently got an Insignia NS-WBRDVD2 Blu-ray player and was hoping to use it to burn my own DVDs or Blu-ray discs. I have a Steam Deck with a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter and some available ports, but I'm unsure whether the player can connect to a computer at all. The back has a small round jack with a center pin and no obvious labeling, while the front also has a USB port. I don't want to connect the wrong cable and damage anything. What are these ports for, and can this device actually burn discs?

The optical or coaxial output on a Blu-ray player is only for sending digital audio to a receiver or sound system. It doesn’t send video or data to a computer, and it can’t be used to capture or burn discs. Also, the HDMI port on a Steam Deck is an output, not an input, so it can’t receive a signal from the player.
