I originally ordered a PowerColor RX 9070 XT Reaper, but the seller sent me a Gigabyte RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16GB instead. It appears to be a higher-end card with a higher power limit and three 8-pin power connectors rather than two, so I'm trying to figure out whether it's a safe match for my system.
My build is a Corsair 4000D Airflow case, B650M Aorus Elite AX motherboard, Ryzen 5 7600, 32GB of DDR5 memory, Corsair RM750x (2021) 750W power supply, 1TB NVMe drive, 500GB SSD, and a 1440p 165Hz monitor running Windows 11. The GPU is mounted horizontally, and I don't have extra cooling, water cooling, RGB hardware, or other power-hungry peripherals.
I've read that the RX 9070 XT can experience short power spikes, which has me worried that the PSU could trip under load. Other information suggests that the Ryzen 5 7600's relatively low power draw leaves enough headroom for a good-quality 750W PSU.
I'm currently using two PCIe power cables: one dedicated cable goes to one GPU connector, while the second cable is daisy-chained to the other two connectors. Is that arrangement safe with the RM750x, especially since the manufacturer says its cables support this configuration?
I'm also concerned about reports of thermal paste or thermal material leaking and causing high hotspot temperatures on some Gigabyte cards. How serious is that issue on newer 9070 XT Gaming OC cards, and should I be worried about long-term reliability?

Using two PSU cables with one of them powering two of the GPU’s connectors is generally acceptable for this card when the PSU and its included cables are designed for it. The RM750x is a quality model, and Corsair specifically supports using its PCIe cable in this kind of setup. Separate dedicated cables are preferable when available, but the daisy-chained arrangement is not automatically unsafe. Make sure every connector is fully seated and never use third-party or modular cables from another PSU.
The best way to judge the setup is to test it rather than assume the worst. If demanding games run for several hours without shutdowns, crashes, instability, or abnormal temperatures, that’s a good sign the PSU is coping. You can also monitor GPU temperature, hotspot temperature, power draw, and clock behavior with a hardware monitor. Reports about thermal material leakage were associated with particular batches and mounting or orientation concerns; it isn’t reasonable to assume every 9070 XT Gaming OC will develop the problem. Keep the card horizontal, maintain good case airflow, and consider lowering the power limit if hotspot temperatures become excessive.
I’ve already played demanding games at maximum settings in two- to three-hour sessions. I’m seeing around 150 FPS with no shutdowns, stuttering, crashes, or drops, and the card has stayed quiet at roughly 60°C during gameplay so far.
Your RM750x is a high-quality unit, and it should be capable of running this system with the 9070 XT, especially with a Ryzen 5 7600 rather than a high-power CPU. The card’s brief spikes should still leave the total system draw within what the PSU can handle. Avoiding additional overclocking—or reducing the GPU power limit or undervolting it—can provide even more margin. Gigabyte’s higher power limit is mainly useful for extracting extra performance, not something you have to use.
I’m learning more about undervolting and cooling now, so I’ll keep that in mind if temperatures or power behavior become a problem.

The card is roughly a 300W-class GPU, with the PCIe slot supplying some of that power as well, so two properly rated PSU cables can make sense even though the card has three sockets.
