Am I starting in the right direction? What topics should I prioritize, and roughly how long might it take to complete these resources as a general reference?

That’s a reasonable starting path. Focus first on core networking, Linux, Python, operating systems, and general security concepts. Once you understand those foundations, try small projects or labs and explore areas such as defensive security, penetration testing, cloud security, digital forensics, or application security. You don’t need to choose a specialization immediately.
Treat the course timelines as flexible rather than fixed targets. If you study consistently for around 1–2 hours a day, the listed introductory material could take roughly 3–6 months, depending on how deeply you practice. Watching lessons is not enough, so leave time for Linux exercises, Bash scripting, networking labs, Python projects, and basic security challenges. After that, choose a direction and build a few practical projects to demonstrate what you can do.
