I bought a used MSI RTX 4070 Ti Super Gaming X Slim, and it came with a 3×8-pin-to-12VHPWR adapter. I'm not sure whether the previous owner included the correct cable, since they replaced the card with an RTX 5080. My power supply is an older 650W SilentiumPC Supremo FM2 Gold. Should I connect all three 8-pin plugs to the adapter, or does this graphics card require only two? I want to avoid damaging the card or the power supply.

Check the exact card and PSU specifications, since connector requirements can vary by model. For this MSI card, a 3×8-pin adapter can be used as long as all three plugs are connected and fully seated. Make sure the 12VHPWR plug is inserted completely with no visible gap, and avoid sharply bending the cable right next to the connector. A 650W PSU may work depending on the rest of the system, but it leaves less headroom than the manufacturer’s recommendation, especially with a power-hungry CPU.
Connect all three 8-pin plugs to the adapter, then plug the 12VHPWR connector firmly into the graphics card. The adapter is designed to provide the required power connection; the GPU only draws the power it needs. Ideally, use separate PCIe power cables from the PSU for each 8-pin plug rather than relying on one daisy-chained cable.
Are you certain? I found references saying some RTX 4070 Ti Super cards originally came with a 2×8-pin adapter, and I don’t want to risk damaging an expensive card.
The PSU is a SilentiumPC Supremo FM2 Gold 650W. If I run into stability problems, I was considering undervolting the GPU.
