I recently bought an Omen 40L with an RTX 5060 Ti 8GB, Ryzen 5 7600, 16GB DDR5-5200 memory, a 1TB WD NVMe SSD, and a B650 motherboard. It originally had a 600W 80+ Gold power supply, which I replaced with an 850W unit, but the crashes continue. Windows 11 and the motherboard BIOS are up to date, and I completely removed and reinstalled the NVIDIA graphics drivers. The computer runs normally for a while in games such as Fortnite and GSPro golf simulator, then suddenly displays a black screen and reboots. Sometimes this takes one or two hours, while other times it happens within a few minutes. Temperatures appear to be normal. Could this be a defective graphics card, a PCIe compatibility issue, or something else? The BIOS does not seem to offer an option to manually set the PCIe slot to Gen 4.

Start by recording the actual CPU and GPU temperatures, hotspot temperature, and power behavior while gaming. Also check Windows Event Viewer for a critical Kernel-Power event or display-driver errors after the reboot. If temperatures and drivers look normal, try a GPU stress test and a memory test to narrow down whether the graphics card, RAM, or motherboard is unstable. Since changing the PSU and reinstalling drivers did not help, the GPU itself or the system’s PCIe slot may be faulty.
If the system has been crashing since almost the beginning, I would strongly consider returning or exchanging it instead of spending weeks troubleshooting a prebuilt. Random black-screen reboots under load can indicate a defective component, and the seller should be responsible for diagnosing or replacing it.
I bought it secondhand through a local marketplace, so returning it may be difficult. I should have tested it more thoroughly before buying, but I’ll still try to get the seller to help if the hardware tests point to a bad component.
