How Many Case Fans Should I Buy, and Should They Be Reverse-Blade?

I'm building my first PC and I'm confused about choosing case fans. I understand that side or front fans generally bring cool air into the case, while the rear fan exhausts warm air. I'm also trying to understand the difference between standard and reverse-blade fans. Should I buy a three-pack and use two fans as intake and one as rear exhaust, or is it better to buy a single fan specifically for the rear? Can fans from the same pack be installed separately for different airflow directions? The fans will be the last parts I purchase for my current build.

Using the same model of fan throughout the case can make fan control and airflow balancing simpler. Aim for slightly more intake than exhaust, preferably with filtered intake positions, to reduce dust entering through gaps. Just make sure your motherboard or fan hub has enough connectors, or use a splitter or hub if needed.

Yes, you can split up a three-pack and use one of the fans as the rear exhaust. Case fans don’t need to be a special type for that location—you install them so the airflow points in the desired direction. A typical layout is front or side intake, with the rear exhausting air. The top can also be used as exhaust, but it’s usually optional.

That clears up the airflow direction. I mainly wanted to confirm that I could use one fan from the three-pack separately as the rear exhaust.
