Why Won’t My AirPods Pro Charge at Work?

My AirPods Pro charge normally at home, but they won't charge when I bring them to work. They use a Lightning cable, and my phone initially shows that the case and AirPods are charging, but after about an hour neither one has gained any battery. I've cleaned both the AirPods and the charging contacts inside the case. At my desk, a surge protector is plugged into the wall, my Mac charger is connected to it, and I plug the AirPods cable into a small power adapter on the same strip. Could the cable or adapter be faulty, or should I have the charging port inspected?

The most likely problem is the small power adapter or the connection to the surge protector, not the AirPods themselves. Try charging the case directly from a known-good wall adapter, or plug the cable into your Mac and see whether the battery percentage actually increases. Also test a different Lightning cable if you have one. A phone can sometimes briefly display the charging indicator even when the power source is unstable or not providing enough power.

At my desk, the surge protector is plugged into the wall, and the only other thing connected is my Mac charger. The AirPods cable is plugged into the small power adapter on the same strip.
