How Do I Keep Pursuing Coding While Stuck in a Job I Hate?

I've been working at a job I dislike for about three and a half years, while teaching myself programming since the rise of AI. I started with Python and have recently been learning more about blockchain. Lately, I keep wondering whether all this effort is worth it and where it's actually leading. The rapid progress of AI makes me question my future in tech even more. I'm worried about how long I can stay in my current job without harming my mental health, but I also want to keep working toward my goals instead of following the usual path. I'm mainly looking for some motivation, perspective, or practical advice.

You’re already showing a lot of discipline by learning consistently while working a job you dislike. AI doesn’t erase the value of learning how to solve problems and build useful projects; it just changes the tools involved. Try choosing one project you genuinely care about and finishing a small version of it. Completed work creates momentum and gives you something concrete to show, which is more useful than endlessly collecting tutorials. Motivation often follows progress rather than appearing first.

That really helped. I mostly needed to feel heard, and focusing on one project sounds like a great next step. Thank you—I’m going to do that.
