Hey everyone! I'm diving into building my first PC since my college laptop is about to kick the bucket. Honestly, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything I need to consider.
For the processor, I initially thought of going with an Intel CPU, maybe from the 14900 series since I've stuck with Intel before. However, I've been hearing that AMD might be the better choice these days? I'm not really familiar with AMD, so I could use some comparisons or advice if anyone has insight.
When it comes to GPUs, I'm pretty clueless and would love suggestions on which ones are good bang-for-your-buck, especially since I want to build a gaming rig. I was leaning towards Nvidia but would appreciate insights on specific models.
I've got some basic specs for RAM and hard drives, but brands and models are still a mystery to me. Any recommendations here would also be awesome!
Lastly, if there's anything else I should be thinking about or details I'm missing, I'm all ears! My starting budget is around $2000, with flexibility to go up to about $2400. I'm also curious about motherboards since I thought they came with processors. I could definitely use help on that too!

Intel did lower their prices recently to become more competitive, but the problem is that they won't support their socket for long, while AMD will let you upgrade your system down the line. So, I'd say go for an AMD setup.
As for storage, yes, an NVME drive (PCIe 4.0 if you can swing it) is what you want. And don’t forget to consider how your build looks—RGB and case design can make all the difference!
If you're building a modern PC, I'd really recommend going with an AMD processor. Specifically, the 7800X3D is fantastic for most situations. Intel has been falling behind lately, especially with their last-generation CPUs.
For the GPU, if you're sticking with Nvidia, the 4070 is a solid choice but remember it all depends on your gaming resolution and needs. Also, make sure to go for an NVME SSD for your boot drive; it's a game changer!
Good to know about Intel's instability issues with their latest generation! That’s a big con for sure. Stick with AMD if you can for a more future-proof build. And don’t just focus on performance; think about the value and what you're gonna use it for!
Definitely! The aesthetics matter just as much! Pick a case that allows for good airflow too, it's essential.
