Is now a good time to build a PC for VR in the UK?

Hey everyone! I've been using my laptop with a 3070ti and an i7 12700h mostly for university work, but lately, I've been diving into VR, and I feel like 8GB just isn't cutting it anymore. I'm thinking about getting a desktop and have a budget of around £2000. Do you think this is a good time for a PC build in terms of price and performance? Also, should I hold off a bit longer for the super variants of the latest 5000 series Nvidia cards? I'm a bit of an Nvidia fan because of their cool features like ShadowPlay and RTX Voice, but if AMD has something just as good, I'd consider going that route too. Just to note, I usually game at 1080p and 144Hz, but I also have a 4K60 TV for more cinematic gaming experiences. My priority is smooth gameplay over just having the best visuals.

I totally agree on the AMD route, especially with their x3d lineup being super impressive. It's also great for multitasking, which is perfect since you're coding too. As for the 5080, while it's a great card, waiting for the super variants could be beneficial, but it’s mostly just a clock speed bump you're looking at. If you're itching to build, the current options are already pretty powerful to consider!

First of all, I'd recommend going with an AMD CPU. Intel's latest offerings just aren't as competitive right now. Pair it with at least 32GB of RAM for optimal performance. As for GPUs, I've always been an NVIDIA fan myself! If you're focusing on VR, a 5080 would be a solid choice, but if that's out of budget, maybe check out the 4070ti instead.
