5800X3D Causes Audio Crackling and WHEA Errors with DDR4-3200 on B450

I upgraded from a Ryzen 7 3700X to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D Anniversary Edition in an ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Gaming system. The same Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB kit previously ran at DDR4-3200 without problems, but after the CPU upgrade I get system-wide audio crackling whenever the memory is set to 3200 MT/s. Lowering only the memory speed to 3000 makes the crackling disappear completely.

The system uses an RTX 4070, Windows 11, and BIOS 6001. I have already updated the BIOS and AMD chipset drivers, cleared CMOS, tried DOCP and automatic timings, manually set FCLK to 1600 MHz, tested SoC voltages of 1.05V and 1.10V, and set VDDG IOD to 1.0V. The problem occurs through USB, wireless, and onboard audio, so it does not seem limited to one audio device.

At DDR4-3200, Windows also reports WHEA-Logger Event 19 errors described as corrected bus/interconnect machine checks. At DDR4-3000, both the audio problem and the WHEA errors appear to stop. Is this likely an issue with the 5800X3D's integrated memory controller or Infinity Fabric, or is there a known BIOS or voltage setting that can make 3200 stable on this B450 board?

The memory controller and Infinity Fabric are inside the CPU, so changing processors can change how well the same memory kit overclocks. A setting that was stable with the 3700X is not guaranteed to be stable with the 5800X3D. The corrected WHEA bus/interconnect errors strongly suggest the platform is marginal at DDR4-3200, and the audio crackling is probably a symptom rather than an audio-device fault.

Running at 3000 is a perfectly reasonable solution, especially if the system is stable and error-free there. The performance difference is small, and tighter timings at 3000 can offset some of the frequency loss. A dedicated sound card is unlikely to help when several unrelated audio devices show the same problem.

I had a similar experience moving to a Ryzen 9 5900X. DDR4-3600 caused intermittent crackling and other audio-channel problems even with separate Creative audio hardware, while dropping the memory to 3200 made the issue disappear. Later firmware updates helped, but the lower memory setting was the reliable fix.

That matches what I am seeing. Since both the crackling and WHEA-19 errors disappear at 3000, the memory or fabric stability seems much more likely than a problem with any particular audio device.
