I'm based in Germany and have a budget of roughly €1,500–€1,800 for improving my gaming setup. Newer games such as Spider-Man 2 are giving me poor frame rates unless I reduce the graphics settings significantly, and I'd like to be ready for demanding titles such as GTA 6 when it releases. My current system has a Ryzen 5 5600X, Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 motherboard, 16GB of DDR4-2400 RAM, and an RTX 3060 12GB. Would it make more sense to upgrade selected components or replace the entire PC? I'd also like the system to remain capable for several years, even if completely future-proof hardware isn't realistic.

You probably don’t need a completely new PC. Upgrade to 32GB of DDR4-3200 or DDR4-3600 memory, replace the CPU with a Ryzen 7 5800X3D if your motherboard BIOS supports it, and put most of the budget toward a much stronger graphics card. This should be considerably cheaper than replacing the whole system. Check that your power supply is a decent modern unit with enough wattage before choosing the GPU.
Your current AM4 platform is at the end of its upgrade path, so there is no true long-term future-proofing option. Still, a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 32GB of faster memory, and a current mid-to-high-end graphics card such as an RTX 4070-class or Radeon RX 9070-class model would make the PC much more capable. If you want the newest platform, DDR5, and easier upgrades later, build a new system; otherwise, upgrading this one should offer better value within your budget.
A new PC gives you a newer platform and an easier upgrade path, but it may not be the best value at current prices. Your motherboard can still support a strong gaming upgrade, so replacing the CPU, RAM, and GPU while keeping the board, storage, and case could extend the system’s useful life by several years.
The main parts that need changing are the CPU, graphics card, and RAM. That is much less expensive than rebuilding everything unless the power supply or other components are also outdated.
