My Sony UBP-X700 works normally with standard DVDs and appears to read this 4K Blu-ray disc: the warning screens and animated title sequence play, and the audio works. However, no menu options appear, so there's no way to select Play or start the movie. I've already changed several settings, performed a factory reset, and updated the firmware using an Ethernet connection. Has anyone run into this or found a way to get the disc to start?

Firmware probably isn’t the issue if the player reports that it’s fully updated, especially after you confirmed it over Ethernet. The next useful test would be another 4K Blu-ray in the same player, plus this disc in a different compatible player. That should show whether the fault follows the disc or stays with the UBP-X700.
