My desktop keyboard was damaged, and I can't afford to buy a replacement right now because I have other urgent expenses. Is there an easy way to control my Windows desktop from my 2020 M1 MacBook Air, mainly for browsing, watching videos, and messaging? I'm not concerned about gaming at the moment, though minimizing input lag would be nice. I'm wondering whether remote-access software is the practical solution or whether some kind of cable could make the MacBook function as a wired keyboard.

Another approach is to stream the Windows desktop to the MacBook with a game-streaming setup. A host such as Sunshine and a compatible Mac client can provide a responsive view of the PC, and the MacBook’s keyboard and trackpad can send input back.
