I received a PC with the AMD 4700S 8-Core Processor Desktop Kit and don't know much about CPUs. I'm trying to figure out what processor it actually uses and how well it compares with other gaming CPUs, especially for demanding games such as Space Marine 2. The system's graphics card will matter too, but I'd like to know whether this CPU is likely to become a major limitation.

The 4700S is an eight-core Zen 2 processor based on hardware originally designed for the PlayStation 5. It has decent core count, but its gaming performance is relatively weak compared with normal desktop Ryzen processors. The desktop kit also has no integrated graphics, so you need a separate graphics card.

For gaming, this isn’t a CPU I’d recommend buying unless the entire system is extremely cheap. Reviews generally place it below much older desktop chips such as the Ryzen 7 1800X in games, and the unusual memory and motherboard setup make upgrades difficult.

Space Marine 2 might run if the PC has a graphics card that meets the game’s requirements, but expect the processor to hold things back. Around 24–30 FPS may be possible in some situations, while large battles and multiplayer could suffer from stuttering or much lower performance. The exact result depends heavily on the GPU, RAM, resolution, and settings.
