My PC occasionally enters a serious failure loop—sometimes it crashes every few minutes, and other times it gets stuck in automatic repair. So far, the only reliable fix has been reinstalling Windows 11 from installation media, even though I can still access the BIOS. My personal files are already backed up with OneDrive, and I keep installers for my applications, but repeatedly reinstalling and reconfiguring everything is becoming exhausting. I'm looking for an affordable, preferably non-subscription solution that can create a complete Windows 11 image and restore the computer even when I can't reach the desktop. Ideally, the restored system would include all applications, settings, and configuration exactly as they were when the backup was created.

Windows still includes the older “Backup and Restore (Windows 7)” tool in Control Panel. It can create complete system images and restore them either from Windows or from bootable Windows installation media. You can schedule weekly images and save them to another drive, a separate partition, or a network location such as a NAS. Keep in mind that these images are mainly intended to be restored through the backup utility; browsing them directly to recover individual files can be awkward because the original folder structure isn’t presented normally.
Clonezilla is a good fit here. It boots its own lightweight operating system from a USB drive, so it doesn’t depend on Windows being functional. You can create a full disk or partition image and restore it later from the same type of bootable media.

That limitation is worth knowing. It works for restoring the whole machine, but I wouldn’t rely on it as the easiest way to retrieve a single file.
