I recently moved my hardware into a white Y70 Hoshimachi Suisei case and want the rest of the build to match. I'd like to keep my existing 32GB of DDR4 memory and 2TB SSD while upgrading the other components.
My current system has a Ryzen 5 5600X, ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS motherboard, ASUS TUF RTX 3070 Gaming OC, 32GB DDR4 running at about 1800MHz, an unidentified Corsair AIO cooler, and an unidentified 650W power supply. The case does not include an RGB hub.
I'm considering a Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5700X, a white Gigabyte X570S Vision D motherboard, a white 360mm Kraken Elite or Thermalright Aqua Elite V3 cooler, a white RTX 4070 SUPER, and some RGB fans.
Is this upgrade path sensible, or would some parts be unnecessary? Should I replace the power supply, and are there less expensive components that would provide similar performance while keeping the white aesthetic? I'd also appreciate a rough total price estimate and advice on whether to buy now or wait for a sale. My goal is around 120 FPS at medium settings in newer games, while I mostly play indie titles between major releases.

For the white look, you can save a lot by keeping the existing motherboard and choosing a less expensive white GPU model, cooler, and fan set. The Thermalright Aqua Elite V3 is usually much better value than the Kraken Elite if you mainly want appearance and adequate cooling. Also check whether your case already provides a controller or whether the fans can connect directly to the motherboard; you may only need an inexpensive ARGB hub.
Make sure your memory description is correct: 8x4GB would mean eight modules, which most consumer boards cannot use, while 4x8GB is common. Four sticks can also require slightly more conservative memory settings. Around €800 could be a reasonable target for a GPU, cooler, PSU, and fans, but the exact price depends heavily on local discounts.
I would not replace the entire platform just to make the parts white. A color change does not improve performance, so prioritize the GPU and power supply first. If you want extra CPU performance, the 5700X3D is the only one of the two proposed processors that is a meaningful gaming upgrade. Enable PBO on the 5600X first, though—it may already be fast enough for your target.
Waiting for a sale is worthwhile for the cooler, fans, and cosmetic parts. The GPU and PSU are more important purchases, so buy them when you find a good price from a reliable seller rather than waiting for a specific shopping event.
The motherboard upgrade is unnecessary. Your B550 board already supports the 5700X3D with a BIOS update, and the X570S Vision D would mostly be a cosmetic or connectivity purchase rather than a gaming-performance upgrade. The 5700X also offers very little improvement over the 5600X in most games, so I’d either keep the 5600X or move straight to the 5700X3D if you play CPU-limited games or want higher minimum FPS at 1080p.
For 1440p gaming, the RTX 4070 SUPER would be the more noticeable upgrade. At that resolution, your 5600X should generally be capable of feeding it well. A 650W supply may be sufficient if it is a reputable modern model, but since the exact unit is unknown, replacing it with a quality 750W ATX 3.0/3.1 PSU would be a sensible safety upgrade.
The 4070 SUPER is a coherent upgrade from the 3070, especially for 1440p, but check the exact card length and thickness against the Y70 case. For a new PSU, look for a reputable 750W unit with an ATX 3.x rating and a native modern GPU power connector. Avoid choosing a cheap unknown unit just because it is white; a black PSU hidden behind the motherboard tray is usually a better value, and white cable extensions can provide the visible color matching.
