How do I use my GoDaddy domain with Microsoft 365 email?

During the Microsoft 365 setup wizard, choose to use a domain you already own and enter your GoDaddy domain. Microsoft can often recognize that the domain is registered there and guide you through the DNS connection. You can either let the integration make the changes or copy the records from Microsoft into GoDaddy manually. Once the records propagate, create the mailbox and test sending and receiving mail. It may take a little while for DNS changes to become visible.

You can absolutely keep the domain at GoDaddy and buy Microsoft 365 directly. After purchasing a business license from Microsoft, add your domain in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Microsoft will provide the DNS records you need, and GoDaddy's DNS management page is where you'll add or confirm them. The setup usually involves verifying a TXT record and configuring records such as MX, CNAME, and sometimes SRV or TXT records. Make sure you do not purchase the Microsoft 365 subscription through GoDaddy, since moving the account later can be unnecessarily complicated.

If the DNS setup feels overwhelming, paying an IT consultant a couple hundred dollars for a basic Microsoft 365 setup may be worthwhile, especially if this is for a business.
