I'm building my first PC and want it to stay capable for several years, with upgrades hopefully limited to adding more RAM later. I'm deciding between an RTX 3070 Ti and a Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT, and I'm leaning toward the RX 9070 XT because it seems much newer and faster. However, I've heard the 3070 Ti is still a strong card, so I'd appreciate advice on the GPU choice and any changes you'd make to the rest of the build.

The core parts are well matched, and an 850W power supply is plenty for the 9070 XT. I would reconsider the memory kit, though. DDR5-6400 CL38 can be harder for a Ryzen 7000 system to run reliably, while DDR5-6000 CL30 with AMD EXPO is usually the safer performance target. Also, 1TB fills up quickly with modern games, so adding a second SSD later would be a practical upgrade.
The RX 9070 XT is the clear choice between these two. It is a much newer card, performs substantially better, and has 16GB of VRAM compared with the 3070 Ti’s 8GB. That extra memory should matter more as newer games become demanding. The 3070 Ti only makes sense if you find it dramatically cheaper or specifically need Nvidia features such as CUDA, certain ray-tracing performance, or a particular upscaling workflow.
That makes sense. I was mainly unsure because people still describe the 3070 Ti as a really good card, but the newer performance and extra VRAM seem more useful for this build.

I agree on the RAM. A stable 6000 MT/s kit with tighter timings is generally preferable to pushing 6400 if the memory controller does not like it.
