My iPhone 14 shows 85% maximum battery capacity, but the battery seems to drain much faster than expected. I unplugged it at 10:15 a.m., and by 5:13 p.m. it had dropped to 35% with regular use such as Safari, YouTube, and browsing. There is no charge limit enabled. Is this level of battery life normal, or could something else be wrong?

Safari can use quite a bit of power, especially when you’re on mobile data, and YouTube is also fairly demanding. With an iPhone 14 using its original battery, 85% health may simply reflect an older battery that no longer performs as well under real-world use. The maximum-capacity number isn’t a perfect measure of how well the battery holds charge, so checking Battery Usage in Settings may help identify unusually power-hungry apps. If the drain seems excessive even with light use, a battery replacement could make a noticeable difference.
The 85% figure means the battery can hold roughly 85% of the capacity it had when new; it doesn’t guarantee a full day of heavy browsing and video streaming. A drop from full to 35% over about seven hours can be plausible if the phone was actively used for much of that time, particularly over cellular data. Look at your Screen Active time and the Battery section in Settings before deciding whether the battery needs service.

That makes sense. I’ll check the battery usage details and consider what to do next.
