This is my first PC build, and I'm stuck connecting the case cables to my Gigabyte X870 Gaming WiFi6 motherboard in a Montech TG3 case. I connected what I believe are the Power SW and +/− PLED cables to the front-panel header, but I can't identify the USB, reset, audio, fan, or lighting cables. When I connect the power supply and press the case power button, a small red motherboard light turns on and the AIO fans spin, but the case fans and RGB lighting do not start. I'm not sure whether the system is wired correctly or what needs to be connected for the PC to start and display an image. What should I check, and how can I identify the remaining cables?

This is a very common first-build problem, so don’t feel bad. Find the manual for the exact motherboard model and look for the F_PANEL diagram. The Power SW connection is the main one needed to test the power button; the reset switch and LEDs are optional for an initial test. Make sure the Power SW is on the correct two pins, since the switch itself has no positive or negative direction.
The motherboard’s red light is probably a diagnostic indicator. Check which label is lit—CPU, DRAM, VGA, or BOOT—and use that to narrow down the problem. AIO fans spinning only confirms that some power is reaching the system; it does not prove that the computer has completed POST. For a basic test, verify the 24-pin motherboard cable, the CPU power cable near the top of the board, RAM seating, the graphics-card power cable if applicable, and that the monitor is connected to the correct video output.
Use the motherboard manual rather than guessing from the cable labels. Some cases have separate fan-power and lighting connectors, and the case fans may not turn on until their SATA power lead or fan hub is connected. Also check whether the case includes a small front-panel adapter that makes the tiny pins easier to install. You can test the board with only the Power SW connected first, then add the USB, audio, reset, fan, and lighting cables one at a time.
The USB cables usually do not connect to the small front-panel pin cluster. A thick cable with a large rectangular connector is normally the front USB 3 header, while a smaller reversible-looking connector may be for front USB-C. The HD AUDIO cable usually routes to the motherboard’s audio header near the bottom-left edge. Case fans connect to SYS_FAN headers, and their RGB cables connect separately to a compatible 5V ARGB header, if the case uses motherboard-controlled lighting.

That helps explain why I couldn’t find the USB connection in the front-panel diagram. The cables from the case aren’t all clearly labeled, so I’ll look for the thicker USB and HD AUDIO connectors instead of treating everything as part of the same header.
