I'm using an older work laptop that was given to me and have already factory-reset it for personal use. HP Sure Click unexpectedly started running while I was browsing, and my screen briefly went black before coming back. I found it in Task Manager under a Micro-VM process, and ending the task didn't stop it permanently. I'd like to understand what HP Sure Click is and how to properly uninstall it from Windows 11.

Before removing it, check whether the laptop still has any work or school management attached to it. Since HP Sure Click is designed as a security layer, it may be installed or protected by device-management software rather than behaving like an ordinary application. If it’s fully yours now, uninstall the related HP security components through Windows settings instead of deleting the running files manually.
HP Sure Click is security software that runs webpages inside an isolated micro-virtual machine. If Windows won’t let you remove its files while it’s running, try uninstalling it from Installed apps first, then repeat the removal from Windows Safe Mode. Safe Mode can prevent its services from starting and releasing the files.
If a particular file remains locked after uninstalling, Microsoft Sysinternals MoveFile can schedule that file for deletion during the next reboot. Be careful to remove only files that clearly belong to HP Sure Click, since deleting system files can cause problems.
It may also be worth checking the laptop’s firmware settings if the software keeps coming back. Some business systems have vendor or security options in UEFI that can trigger software installation or recovery.
