My current gaming PC has served me well for almost eight years without any upgrades, but its GTX 1070 Ti is showing its age. I'm planning a completely new build with a budget of about $4,600 or €4,000. I use a 1440p 360Hz Samsung Odyssey OLED monitor and mainly play Overwatch 2, Rocket League, EA Sports FC, Dead by Daylight, and eventually demanding AAA games such as GTA 6.
I'm especially interested in building a white PC because I like the look much more than a basic black case. However, I keep hearing that white components show dust more easily and may cost more than equivalent black parts. Is that actually a major problem, or is it mostly exaggerated? I don't mind cleaning the system regularly, and I'd like this build to last for many years. For the graphics card, would an RTX 5080 or RTX 5070 Ti make more sense, or should I consider another option?

The choice should start with your actual budget and games rather than the color of the case. For a 1440p 360Hz monitor, the 5070 Ti is already a strong match, while the 5080 is mainly worthwhile if you want extra headroom for demanding future games or plan to move to 4K. Make sure the rest of the build—especially the power supply, cooling, and CPU—is balanced instead of spending nearly everything on the graphics card.
A white build is perfectly practical. Dust buildup depends much more on airflow, filters, pets, and the room than on the case color. White parts can make dirt more noticeable, but regular cleaning with an electric air blower will keep everything looking good. You may pay a small premium for white components, so compare prices rather than assuming every part has to match perfectly.
If ray tracing, path tracing, frame generation, DLSS, and Nvidia’s software support are important to you, the RTX 5070 Ti or RTX 5080 is the safer choice. The 5080 makes more sense for heavier 4K gaming, while the 5070 Ti should be plenty for a 1440p display. If you mainly want traditional rendering performance and don’t care about upscaling or ray tracing, AMD is worth considering instead.
With current pricing, the Radeon 9070 XT may offer the best value. At 1440p without ray tracing, it can perform around the same as an RTX 5070 Ti while costing significantly less in some markets. The 5070 Ti has advantages for streaming, ray tracing, and Nvidia features, but paying several hundred euros more may not be worthwhile unless you specifically want those features.
