My PC occasionally loses video output while the fans immediately ramp up to 100%. This happens most often a few minutes into gaming, although sometimes I can play for hours before it occurs. It used to happen while watching videos and browsing too, but cleaning the dust out of the system seems to have stopped those crashes outside of games. The system has an RTX 5070, Ryzen 5 5600X, and 32GB of DDR4 memory. What could be causing this, and how should I troubleshoot it?

This pattern could point to a graphics driver problem, a GPU that is crashing under load, or possibly power, temperature, or cable issues. Since the drivers are already up to date, try doing a clean driver reinstall and monitor GPU temperatures and power usage while gaming. Also check that the graphics card is seated properly and that its power connectors are firmly attached. Buying the card new does not completely rule out a hardware fault, so testing with another GPU or checking system logs after a crash may help narrow it down.
The drivers are up to date, and the card was bought new shortly before this started, so I’m hoping it isn’t failing. I’ll check the temperatures, connections, and logs while troubleshooting.
