Fortnite feels noticeably stuttery and unsmooth despite running at a high frame rate. My system uses a Ryzen 5 9600X and an RTX 5070, and performance can reach around 400 FPS in some areas, with 1% lows near 100 FPS. I'm playing in Performance mode, have the latest CPU and GPU drivers, and have already optimized the system. The issue feels about the same in fullscreen and windowed modes. My monitor supports G-Sync and runs at 180Hz, with the game capped at 185 FPS. Lowering the cap to 140 or 120 FPS doesn't seem to change the choppiness. My memory is running at 6000 MHz with EXPO enabled. What else could be causing this?

Check your memory configuration first. RAM speed, timings, and whether EXPO is enabled can have a noticeable effect on frame-time consistency, even when the average FPS looks excellent.
If that checks out, it’s also worth checking background processes and anything periodically using the CPU while the game is running.
Make sure the FPS limit is appropriate for the monitor’s refresh range. With a 180Hz display, G-Sync generally works best when the game is capped a few frames below the maximum refresh rate, rather than running at 400 FPS. That said, since changing the cap to 140 or 120 FPS made no difference, the cause may be frame-time spikes, background activity, or another system-level issue rather than the average FPS itself.

The RAM is running at 6000 MHz with EXPO enabled, so those settings appear to be configured correctly.
