Hey everyone! I have a Dell Optiplex 3070 with a fresh motherboard and I'm running Windows 11. Recently, my hard drive started showing critical issues and making weird noises, so I think it's on its last legs. Thankfully, my fiancé got me a new hard drive that should fit my computer, but I want to know if I can use my WD Black P10 Game Drive (the 2.5" HDD designed for Xbox) to transfer data from the failing hard drive to the new one. Is that possible? If it is, could someone guide me on how to do it? I really want to avoid the $200 fee that the repair shop is charging.

First off, don't risk using that dying hard drive anymore! Make sure to connect the new drive first; it should fit unless you have the Micro tower version, in which case some drives won't fit. Once the new drive is installed, put Windows on it using a USB drive. After that, you can connect the old drive to recover data, but you might need a USB to SATA adapter for that. They’re pretty affordable, around $10-20. Just make sure to handle everything safely to avoid losing any more data!
You can check your Dell's model specifications online; if it says something about Micro or Compact, that's likely what you have!
