What GPU makes sense for casual 1080p gaming?

I'm choosing a graphics card mainly for 1080p gaming. I was considering an Intel Arc A750 because I don't really need 1440p performance or more than 8GB of VRAM, but several people have suggested the newer Arc B580 instead. Most of the games I play are fairly light, such as Stardew Valley and The Sims, though I also want to play more demanding titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Detroit: Become Human. I'd prefer to save money if the A750 or another 8GB card would be enough, but I'm open to alternatives depending on local prices.

For the lighter games, almost any modern dedicated GPU will be plenty at 1080p. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the main reason to avoid going too cheap, since it benefits from extra VRAM and stronger overall performance. If the B580 is reasonably priced where you live, it’s the better long-term choice and should handle 1080p comfortably. If it costs around $500 in your region, though, it may not be good value.

That makes sense. I’ll compare the B580 with other cards locally instead of assuming the US price applies.

You could also look for a used RX 6700 XT with 12GB of VRAM. It’s an older card, but it still performs well at 1080p and can be close to the B580 depending on the game and price. A good used deal would make it a stronger buy than an A750, especially for Red Dead Redemption 2.

An integrated GPU such as the Radeon 780M can run the casual games easily and can manage many newer games at 1080p with reduced settings and upscaling. However, for consistently better performance in demanding games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Detroit: Become Human, a dedicated card is still the safer option. I’d choose the B580 if its local price is reasonable, or compare it with a used RX 6700 XT.
