Hey everyone, I'm having a really hard time getting a Minecraft Neoforge server up and running on version 1.21.1. I signed up for a Digital Ocean trial to use an 8GB RAM server, but after years of dealing with RDP interfaces, I just can't seem to get this set up. I've tried using AI tools like Gemini and ChatGPT for help, but they keep giving me scripts that don't work, even with all the right directories and files. Linux feels so user-unfriendly, and it's frustrating that I have to set permissions just to create a folder. Why can't it be as simple as running an installer.exe? I'm really considering just paying for a server instead of wrestling with this. It's been over three hours, and it's driving me crazy!

It sounds like you're really fed up with the whole process! Honestly, a lot of people find Linux a bit rough when they're just trying to set up a server. Have you checked out any YouTube tutorials specific to Minecraft Neoforge installations? Sometimes seeing it done can clear up a lot of confusion.
I feel you, it can definitely feel overwhelming trying to juggle Linux commands and Minecraft server setups. But hey, relying solely on AI for this kind of stuff might not be the best approach. Sometimes a more hands-on method with a tutorial can save you some headaches!
I totally agree! I spent hours without success, and it felt like I was talking to a brick wall with some of the AI suggestions.
