I'm considering a GPU upgrade and found that a used 3090 (about 4 years old) costs the same as a new 5060 Ti 16GB, which comes with a 2-year warranty. I'm not planning to upgrade my PC for at least another 4 years. While I'm not interested in features like Frame Generation, I'm concerned about the longevity of the 3090. What should I choose?

If you're looking for something more energy-efficient and less power-hungry, then the 5060 Ti might be a better fit. But for performance, the 3090 is clearly the winner here.
The 3090 offers around 38% more performance based on benchmarks which is a huge difference, especially if you're not planning to upgrade again soon. Just make sure your setup can handle it power-wise!
Before you decide, consider what model of 3090 it is. Some lack proper thermal cooling, which could cause issues down the road if it was mined heavily. Also, check if the previous owner used a GPU bracket to avoid any damage from sag. This can greatly affect longevity! If it has decent thermals, it could be a solid choice.
Definitely go with the 3090! It offers a significant performance boost and even though it's used, GPUs don't just 'expire' like you might think. As long as it’s still functional, you’ll get great value for your money.
Unless you're stuck with a low wattage PSU, I'd recommend the 3090 hands down! Upgrading your PSU is usually not that expensive, and it's worth it for the performance gain you'll be getting.
I found out it’s a Gainward Phoenix. The seller claims it was only used for gaming, but you never know. It ran at around 74°C under stress tests.
